One of the most difficult things in life to do for us is to receive help. There are many reasons why, perhaps foremost is that we don’t want to feel needy. Mephibosheth was a man who was crippled. This made him a burden in the ancient world. Even more, as a descendent of the previous king, he should have been killed. David welcomed him into the palace. Mephibosheth accepted, and in so doing teaches each of us about the grace to receive help.
