About the Play
Waldo Puppybreath, editor; Agnes Griddle, sports editor; and Penelope Mayberry have their hands full trying to run the school newspaper, the Weekly Bunyan. In the spirit of fearless journalism, Waldo has written an editorial suggesting that the proposed site for a new school building is actually a swamp! The land promotor is not amused.

Meanwhile, the suspended school bully, who resembles the Godfather, is trying to rig the Prom Queen Contest, an event sponsored by the paper. Waldo’s biology teacher is demanding his resignation from the paper because it’s interfering with his studies of the anatomy of a cat, and now someone is trying to frame Waldo for the missing fencing trophy.

In such trying times, Waldo withdraws into his comic books, looking to the Wonder Heroes for inspiration. This is a job for Captain Fan-Fan-Fan-Fantastic! Through Waldo’s imagination, we enter a twilight world where the characters of Act One are transformed into the larger-than-life Superheroes and villains of Waldo’s beloved comic books!

Captain Fantastic is a fast-paced comic book farce where everyone has a part to play in good triumphing over evil!
